The goal of the Workshops on Prosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) is to exchange knowledge and experience in management of PJI among medical experts across the world.

Infections of the bones (osteomyelitis) and joints (septic arthritis) are serious health problems which require antibiotics and often surgery. Awareness among health professionals of the causes and treatment options for various types of bone and joint infections is essential for effective resolution.

PROOF-Study: The efficacy and safety of high-dose intravenous fosfomycin (5 g every 8 hours) in combination with other antibiotic is evaluated in complicated bone and implant-associated infections caused by staphylococci, enterococci and gram-negative organisms.
For the first time PRO-IMPLANT Foundation hosted at the Workshop on PJI also participants from Latvia: Dr. Peteris Studers (Trauma/Ortho) and Dr. Martins Malzubris (Ortho and Bone Infections). We are looking forward to establishing a close collaboration in research and clinical practice with Baltic countries.
