Here his feedback:
"In the summer of 2015, I spent two months at the European reference Center for Septic surgery of Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery at Charité - University Medicine Berlin, where I had the exceptional honor to be part of a successful collaborative team of orthopedic surgeons and infectology specialists.
First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude and thanks to PD Dr. med Andrej Trampuz, Head of Center for Septic surgery at CMSC, as well as to other doctors at Center for Septic surgery for hosting me and giving me the opportunity to be a part of their team.
During my visit, I increased my knowledge in septic surgery, witnessed various kinds of prosthetic joint infection cases and gained theoretical and clinical experience in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of different kinds of prosthetic joint infections. My activities at the Center for Septic surgery included attendance of morning rounds at the ward, contact with patients under supervision of attending physician, visits at outpatient clinic and regular assistance at surgical procedures in the sterile operative field. Furthermore, I learned the importance of accurate timing and proper planning regarding prosthetic joint infection handling and thus the correct use of antimicrobial therapy in combination with adequate surgical procedures.
All in all, it was a great experience and I highly recommend visiting this excellent multidisciplinary center for Septic surgery to ambitious medical students, residents or specialist doctors who want to get viable clinical experience and expand their knowledge in septic surgery and prosthetic joint infections.
Once again, I am extremely thankful and indebted to PD Dr. med Andrej Trampuz for being a great mentor and for sharing his expertise with me."
