Anne Fietz CV

Anne Fietz edtAnne Fietz is a biostatistician who is currently finishing her master's degree in Statistics at the Humboldt University of Berlin. In 2012 she graduated with her bachelor's degree in Business Mathematics at HTW Berlin.
From 2013 until 2014 she did exchange studies at the Imperial College London at the Department of Mathematics.
Her focus in statistics are biostatistics, statistics in life sciences and statistical inference. Additionally, she specialized in survival models, mathematical biology and stochastic processes.

Since August 2014 she has been working as a biostatistician at the PRO-IMPLANT Foundation. Her main responsibilities are the statistical analysis of prospective and retrospective clinical studies.

Dr. Elena Maryka Maiolo CV

Elena Maryka Maiolo photoElena Maiolo is a medical biologist. She obtained her Master of Science in metabolism from the University of Lausanne in 2010, and her PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Lausanne in 2014. During her studies she was involved and coordinating clinical studies as well as private NGO. In 2010 she was research assistant in Neuroscience in Fribourg before to start in 2011 with her PhD in infectious diseases. She is currently working as scientific advisor, coordinating laboratory projects and managing a research laboratory together with Prof. Andrej Trampuz at the Charité – University Medicine in Berlin, Germany.

Alessandra Catalina Bardelli CV

Catalina BardelliAlessandra Catalina Bardelli is a clinical project manager. After obtaining a degree in Business Administration in 2005 she completed a master in Advanced Administration and Controlling in 2007, at the University of Florence. From 2007 to 2011 she worked as contract manager in the procurement department of Ansaldobreda, Finmeccanica Group, Italy. In 2012 she obtained a master degree in Public Health, at Charité Univeristätsmedizin, Berlin. Since 2012 she works in clinical research projects, first in the Klinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie and currently in the Centrum für Muskuloskeletale Chirurgie of Charité-University Medicine Berlin. Since December 2013 she is Foundation Manager at PRO-IMPLANT Foundation.

Sabrina Cabric CV

Sabrina CabricSabrina Cabric obtained her medical education at the Berufsfachschule für Medizinisch-technische Laboratoriumsassistenten in Nürnberg in 2006. After her state examination she started to work in the Friedrich – Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, at the department of Nephrology and Hypertension. There the main emphasis of her research was to investigate the Regulation of Blood pressure. In 2013 she started to work on a research project “Intestinal Microbiome” at the Technical University in Munich at the Department of Nutrition and Immunology. Her main responsibilities were next generation sequencing of national cohort samples. Her area of specialization focused mostly on molecular biology and genetics. 

Dr. Ulrika Furustrand Tafin CV

Ulrika FurustrandDr. Ulrika Furustrand Tafin is a microbiologist with special expertise in biofilms and implant-associated infections. She obtained her Master of Science from the University of Helsinki in 2009, and her PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Lausanne in 2012. Over the last 6 years she has led and coordinated numerous laboratory and clinical research projects, focusing on diagnosis and treatment of implant-associated infections. Currently she is leading a research laboratory at Lausanne University Hospital together with Dr. Olivier Borens. Dr. Furustrand Tafin is a scientific consultant of the Foundation. 

Magdalena Czuban CV

Magdalena Czuban edtMagdalena Czuban received her M.Sc. in technology and chemical engineering and B.S degree in biotechnology in 2010 and 2011 respectively. She joined the experimental endocrinology research group at Charité - University Medicine Berlin in 2010. She continued her work from 2011 to 2014 as a Research and Development Specialist in a biotech industry. Then in the Institute for Medical Immunology at Charité - University Medicine Berlin she developed a method for controlled coating of bone substitute materials with plant derived polysaccharides. She joined research group of prof. Andrej Trampuz in 2015.

Prof. Dr. Carsten Perka CV

Carsten Perka photoProf. Dr. Carsten Perka obtained his medical education at Charité – Humboldt University Berlin in 1991. He completed his doctorate and habilitation at Charité – University Medicine Berlin under the supervision of Prof. H. Zippel. Since 2003 he is a Deputy Director of the Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery and Chairman of the Orthopaedic Department, Charité – University Medicine Berlin. In addition, Carsten Perka is also a professor in arthroplasty and regenerative medicine since 2006 and professor of orthopedics since 2010.

Maren Engel CV

Maren Engel edtMaren Engel is a nurse and teacher for nursing. After her education in 1993, she worked for 16 years in clinical care. Most of the time she worked in the department of cardiac and thoracic surgery, Intensive Care Unit of the German Heart Center, Berlin, where she completed her profession as a nurse in anesthesia and intensive medicine with an examination in the year 2000. 2002 she began her studies for nursing science and education in the faculty of Charite University medicine of the Humboldt University of Berlin and received her diploma in 2008. Her final thesis in nursing science included the results of a clinical research about assessment for the risk of oral bacteremia in intensive care patients.

From 2009 until 2014 she worked as a teacher after what she joined the research team of Dr. Andrej Trampuz because of her interests in hygiene and infections.

Dr. Nora Renz CV

Nora Renz photoDr. Nora Renz is an internal medicine specialist, currently doing her infectious diseases fellowship at Charité – University Medicine Berlin, under supervision of Dr. Andrej Trampuz.

She is responsible for the coordination of clinical studies and scientific projects, participating in the infectious diseases consultation service with the main focus on management of complex and implant-associated infections.

Dr. Maria Eugenia Portillo Bordonabe CV

Maria Eugenia Portillo BordonabeDr. Maria Eugenia Portillo Bordonabe is a clinical microbiologist with special expertise in biofilms and implant-associated infections. Over the last 4 years she has established both clinical and laboratory research groups, focusing on implant-associated infections. She also collaborates as Research Officer with different companies in order to develop new diagnostic methods.

Alise Tarasova CV

Alise Tarasova 150Alise Tarasova obtained vocational secondary education in the field of accounting and business in Jekabpils Business College, Latvia in 2009. In September 2011 she undertook studies in Political Science at University of Latvia. During her studies she was actively involved in different social activities. She was a member of Student Council in the Faculty of Social Sciences in the University of Latvia, as well as a member of Latvian Transatlantic Organization (LATO). She also participated as a volunteer in organization of international conference "Baltic Development Forum Summit" in Riga, Latvia in 2013. From September 2013 till March 2014 she did exchange studies in Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. In June 2014 she graduated from University of Latvia and obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Since July 2014 Ms. Alise Tarasova is working for PRO-IMPLANT Foundation, and from November 2015 undertaking Foundation manager responsibilities.

 

Prof. Dr. Werner Zimmerli CV

Werner Zimmerli edtWerner Zimmerli studied medicine in Basel University, Switzerland, and obtained the PhD in 1974. After continuous education in inner medicine and rheumatology, he worked in a research project at the Department of Infectious Diseases in Geneva. The project aimed to explain high susceptibility to infection of implants lead by the pathogen mechanisms. Afterwards he worked as a chief and consulting physician in Infectious Diseases department in University Hospital Basel. This was followed by examination of function of granulocytes (tutored by John Gallin) during his research stay at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda/USA. In 1989 he completed his habilitation in internal medicine and became a professor at the University of Basel in 1992. From 1991 till 1999 he led the newly established department of Infectious Diseases at the University Hospital Basel. In 1999 he began to work as a professor and a chief physician in inner medicine at Medical University Clinic Liestal.
